EXCERPT:
Following after her, I find her bent over in front of the refrigerator holding the door open and staring at the contents inside. The way her ass is sticking out unleashes something inside me, and I go semi-hard just from watching her. I instantly feel the need to show her that I’m not some weak, damaged man. I walk up behind her and grab her by the waist, turning her around. Kicking the door shut behind me, I push her to the island, and if I thought I could get away with it, I’d be pressing myself up against so she could feel what she’s doing to me. She’s staring up at me with confusion in her big, brown eyes, and I wonder what the hell I’m doing.

“Hop up,” I tell her, and she complies immediately, surprising me by not fighting it.

I place my hands on her knees, spreading them and stepping closer to her so my hips are between her legs. As best as I can, I take a hold each one and wrap them around my waist, and she involuntarily tightens them around my middle, although her ass is still firmly planted on the counter. This isn’t how I imagined her legs wrapped around me for the first time, but I can’t deny that I don’t love the feel of her gripping my waist tightly.

“Arms around my neck, Charlie.” The confused expression on her face deepens, but she does as she’s told.

“What are you doing, Knox?” she asks, looking up at me, her face only inches from mine.

Swallowing hard, I ignore her question and bring my forehead to hers. “Just do this for me, okay? Don’t fight me on it. Just this once. I need to do this.”

She nods, and I’m not sure she knows what to expect, confirming it when I pull her off the counter. Gasping, she starts to struggle, and I have to brace myself against the counter to keep from falling. Jesus, this woman is so damn defiant, and it can be both sexy as hell and annoyingly irritating.

“Knox, what the hell?! Put me down!”

Fuck, I know I should probably listen to her, but I’ve gotten to this point and I’m not stopping until I can prove to myself that I haven’t completely lost all of my strength. She’s not exactly heavy, but her struggling is making it difficult to keep my one good arm around her as I make my way down the hallway, heading into the guest bedroom. Somewhere along the way she stops struggling, apparently having given up and figuring that it’s just easier to let me do this.

I’m slightly out of breath by the time I get to her bed, and I’m more than happy to release her from my arms. Relief washes over me when she plops on the bed, bouncing once. Whether the relief is from having been able to do it or from having freed myself of her weight. Either way, I’m fucking ecstatic, and even though I’m breathing heavy, it was a small victory for me and my bruised ego.

I begin backing away from her because I know the verbal assault is coming, and I don’t blame her, but I don’t regret it.

Things are just getting good between Matt and Amy when he has to leave on a business trip for several days. He asks Amy to go with him, but she can’t leave her shop. Amy packs a tote bag for Matt she knows he’ll enjoy on his trip – fruit, home-baked cookies, and throws in a silky red thong for a joke.

Matt decides to return the favor.

Matt had been in Indianapolis only forty-eight hours, and Amy missed him like she’d miss an appendage. She’d hardly slept last night. Her pillowcase still smelled like him, but it wasn’t enough. She couldn’t cuddle with a goldfish. She finally resorted to hugging the pillow until she drifted off for a few hours.

Things were crazy at her shop, too. She could hear the “chirp” of texts received on her smart phone as she worked, but she didn’t have time to look at them. She heard the bells jingle on the shop’s front door as the FedEx guy walked in. He held up a medium-sized box. She put her shears down for a few seconds to sign for it.

“Thanks,” she said, and she took the package out of his hands. He left, and she continued to stare at the box.

It was light, too light to be ribbon or enclosure cards. There were only initials in the upper left-hand corner, and she wasn’t familiar with the mailing address. She was tempted to leave it on the workbench while she started the next arrangement, but curiosity got the best of her. She opened the Fed Ex box to reveal a much more luxurious box inside. It was a vivid pink, wrapped with black satin ribbon tied into a gorgeous bow. The top of the box read “Agent Provocateur”.

She glanced around. Estelle was on a coffee break. She untied the bow, pulled the lid off of the box, and let out a gasp. A delicate pink and black lace slip was nestled in a bed of barely-tinted pink tissue paper. She lifted it out of the box. The straps were thin black ribbons that ended in bows. The cups of the bra were the palest pink lace. The bodice was sheer, and the skirt was flounces of Chantilly lace and tulle. Hopefully she wouldn’t snag something so beautiful and delicate on her work-roughened fingertips. The tiniest pair of panties she’d ever seen lay undisturbed in the tissue paper along with an envelope that read “Amy”.

She pulled a notecard out of the envelope.

They named these after you, Fifi.

You are more beautiful.

Matt

Four days later Amy stood at Matt’s front door in the trench coat she hadn’t worn since she left her corporate job and a pair of Emily’s stilettos. She knew Matt was home; he’d texted her from the Town Car that dropped him off half an hour ago. Samantha was spending the evening with her grandma.

Amy had spent the last two evenings practicing walking in the loaned pair of stilettos. She hardly had any bruises as a result, and last night she was really getting the hang of it. She made it from the van to his front door without wiping out. All she had to do was make it over the threshold of his house.

She tapped at the door. Matt pulled it open seconds later.

“I’ve missed you so much,” he said. The joy on his face made her heart leap. He reached out for her and attempted to pull her inside.

One of Emily’s heels snagged in the doormat.

“Ow!”

“You’re wearing heels? Since when do you wear heels?” he asked, trying to disentangle her from the rubber doormat’s surprisingly tenacious grip on the shoe.

“I wanted to surprise you—ow!” She yanked her foot out of the shoe and pulled away from him. “Now the surprise is spoiled. Why can everyone else manage heels, and I’m just a big mess in them? I don’t get it. I—”

Matt’s mouth covered hers. He was already working on the trench coat’s belt with impatient hands. He stopped kissing her long enough to say, “If this is what I think it is, I’m enjoying it already.”

“The panties,” she whispered into his ear. “They—They’re so teeny. I can’t get them off by myself.”

She managed to shut his front door with one elbow, yanked the trench coat off, and dropped it at her feet. She wore nothing but one shoe, toenail polish, a spritz of Jo Malone’s Orange Blossom, and the panties he’d sent her. He looked, and then he stared.

She bit her lower lip and glanced up at him. He seemed a bit awestruck.

“This is the best day of my life,” he said. “Don’t move.”

He grabbed the heel out of the mat, shut and locked the door, and knelt at her feet to slip Emily’s shoe on her foot again. Seconds later, he scooped her up in his arms, and carried her to his room.

        “What, Alex? What do you want?” Olivia asked, choking the words out through her tears. She crossed her arms over her stomach, trying to keep herself warm. She felt Alexander approach behind her, the familiar electricity present.

        “What do I want?!” He grabbed her shoulders, turning her around to face him. “Haven’t I made myself perfectly clear over the past several months?!” He ran his fingers through his hair.

        Olivia stared at him, tears streaming down her face as she leaned against the brick building.

        He slowly walked up to her and placed his hands on either side of her head, leaning over her. “You, Olivia! I want you!” he exclaimed passionately. “I want you every second of every day. I want the good. I want the bad. I want the sweet. I want the ill-tempered. I want the hot. I want the cold. I want the crazy, irrational, exasperating pain-in-the-ass girl that I love with my entire fucking heart.” He took a deep breath before lowering his voice, the look on his face sincere. “I want the sexy, beautiful woman that makes me whole, Olivia. And I am not going to stop until you admit that you love me. I know you do so stop running from it. You’ve been running from love all your life.         “And every day I spend with you, I fall even more in love. And the days we’re apart, I feel like I could die from the fucking heartache because I’m missing such an important part of me. It feels like I can’t go on breathing or surviving when you’re not with me, and that’s what I’m fucking scared of. I’m scared that you’ll leave me, just like everyone else in my life that I’ve ever loved, and I’ll never survive.”

        She cried into Alexander’s chest, soaking his suit jacket. “I’m scared to death to love you, but I’m more scared to walk away from you,” she sobbed out.

OMGOMGOMGOMG!!!! This book was absolutely f*cking amazing!  Jack and Leila are such a HOT and sexy couple and AM Madden does an excellent job of showing readers the chemistry between the two!  There were a few times during this book that AM Madden totally caught me off guard and I was going “wait…WTF just happened?!?!” and “Oh shit, where is Leila (or Jack) so I can smack them for being soooo stupid!”  This is one book you don’t want to miss (But make sure you read Back Up first LOL)  Front & Center is filled with sexiness, laughter, tears, some “Oh no she didn’t” moments and some WTF moments.

What are three things about you that might surprise your readers? 

I’m not sure these would be a surprise, I am pretty much an open book. I am addicted to the Bachelor. I haven’t missed one episode. (Do not judge me.) I am a hopeless romantic. If I find a book or a movie that moves me, I’ll read or watch it over and over again. i.e. The Notebook I’ve seen dozens of times, and will still watch it if I find it on TV, even with commercials. I read the Fifty Shades books eleven times. I am OCD. Even though I loved Fifty Shades Freed the best, I still had to re-read the other two each time, and in order. Same with Twilight. It’s a sickness.

Where did the idea for the storyline come from?

I actually had a dream I was at a concert and the lead singer and his back-up were smoking hot on stage. I was in the front row, and I felt like these two should be getting it on right there on the stage. It woke me up out of a dead sleep. I remember the first thing I said to myself was, “Huh, well that was interesting.” I started writing the next day.

What author(s) inspire you?

I have so many. I love S.C. Stephens, Sam Towle, Colleen Hoover. But I have to say the authors I’ve recently met and become friendly with are my biggest inspiration. They are all self-published, fairly newbies like me. These group of women are so amazing, and I am glad to have found them.

Tell us about yourself.

I’m a wife and mom first. My boys are older now, 17 & 15, and things are so very different. They have their own lives. They don’t need me like they used to. (Except for more money and the car keys). My hubby and I are finding it to be very bittersweet. We enjoy the time together, and we can clearly see life as empty-nesters…but we desperately miss them as babies. I am an Italian Jersey girl who loves reading a good book on the beach.

Top 5 favorite scenes from Front & Center.

I really can’t elaborate on them without giving away too many plot secrets, so I’ll label them geographically. Cleveland, Boston, Chicago, Vegas, and New Jersey is my absolute favorite.

Please tell us about your characters.

Jack is it for me. He is the ultimate. He is everything I find hot, sexy, and loving in a man. Leila is my alter ego. She is everything I wish I could be…mainly a really good singer. I cannot sing to save my life. LOL. The others are just a great group of people, I would want to hang out with. I built the characters before the story. They drove my story.

5 best things about being a writer?

I’m not sure I have five yet, I’m so  new at this. My number one best thing is having a fan contact me, to tell me they were up all night reading Back-up. Or they want more on Evan and Lizzy. Or they wish Jack were real. It’s very humbling to know my words touched people. I still can’t wrap my head around that.

What are you currently working on? 

Encore. It’s the 3rd and I think the final book in the series.

What other releases do you have planed for 2014?

My next book is totally different. It will be a single, not a series. I already have the two main characters in my head. I keep a notebook to be sure I remember all the tiny details that I think of, mainly in the middle of the night. Lately, I haven’t been sleeping much.

I really enjoyed Bursting With Love by Melissa Foster.  This whole series is amazing and Melissa always has me interested in what is going on with the story.  From beginning to end I am hooked and needing to know what happens next with her characters!  The chemistry, the drama and the romance of her books are well written and proves how amazing she truly is at drawing people in.  This story is about a woman who has had her heart broken one too many times and a man who lost his wife tragically…the two of them are each other’s second chance at finding their HEA…but will their pasts be too much and cause them to lose that HEA or will their pasts be the reason that they get their HEA with each other.  You gotta read to find out! 😉

4.5 stars!

I slide my key card in and open the door. I completely forgot that we left the room a mess. Fuck.

“Her bed is that one.” I point to the farthest one. I watch in amazement as he pulls the covers down and gently lays her down. He then covers her back up.

“Did you just tuck her in?” I ask, grinning.

“Yeah, is that bad?” he asks self-consciously.

“No, it’s just—most guys don’t do the whole ‘tucking in’ thing.”

“Oh, well I could untuck her in, if you’d prefer?” He smiles. He’s messing with me.

“No, it’s fine,” I say softly. “Thank you.”

“No problem. Just make sure you tell her I didn’t grope her or anything. Would hate for my neighbors to think I’m a creep or something,” he quips, walking closer to me. I can’t deny the heat coming off him, making me want to wrap my arms around him just to feel his body.

“Neighbors?”

“Oh, right. I’m in room 482. Across the hall.” He nods his head toward the door. He’s standing right in front of me, making me tilt my head back just to look up into his eyes—his beautiful bright green eyes.

“Oh.”

“Well, thanks again,” I say, breaking the awkward silence.

“My pleasure.” He continues looking at me intently, and I wonder if he’s thinking the same thing I am. “Have a good night, Emma.” His hand brushes mine as he walks toward the door. I watch as he opens it, and then he’s gone.
